Tidbits
  • Abortion: Pro Abortion
  • Border and immigration: ICE: "Detaining and deporting people who have been in our communities for 20 years. Law-abiding, hard-working. That's not making us safer."
  • State Income Tax – favored a state income tax in 2016 interview, voted against Bill to prevent an income tax, now as a candidate for Governor says she is against a state income tax.
  • Guns: National Rifle Association has rated her 0%. She voted against Second Amendment Sanctuary Bill blocking enforcement of certain new federal gun laws; and Bill that barred state contracts with companies that discriminate against the gun industry.
  • Law Enforcement: Labeled a “defund-the-police radical,” – no votes on Bill penalizing cities that cut police budgets, and Bill limiting personal-recognizance bonds for some offenses. Voted against the sanctuary-city crackdown and against a proposed constitutional amendment denying bail to immigrants charged with serious crimes.
Claims and the record
  • 2025 quorum-break fine: Fined $8,354.25 by the House Administration Committee (April 2026) for the August 2025 quorum break. The Texas Supreme Court denied the attorney general's petition to remove her (May 2026). She denied abandoning her office; no response on the fine was found.
